Viasea is expanding their services and will offer Port of Kristiansand as part of their weekly schedules from Europe and the Baltics. From 2nd of October the vessel Carla will arrive at the Port of Kristiansand every Tuesday morning.
- We will offer a competitive alternative to road freight to the industry in the Kristiansand area, covering most parts of the European market. We believe strongly in the environmentally friendly sea freight alternative with competitive prices, reliable and short lead times,” says Morten Pettersen, Managing Director Viasea Shipping

Focus for Viasea Shipping is punctuality and predictability – being a realistic alternative to road freight in most of Europe. With this new service, Viasea offers a good alternative for an extensive amount of cargo imported and exported, in this region. Port of Kristiansand is Southern Norway`s most important transportation hub, and therefore a viable port for Viasea to be present.

- Based on our previous experience in the inner Oslofjord, where we have offered this concept for two years with success, we are convinced that the market in the Kristiansand region will benefit from our new service”, says Pettersen.

There is a great potential to move cargo from road to sea with Viasea’s service – with excellent connections and transit times from BeNeLux, Germany, UK, Poland and eastern Europe.

There are many advantages of choosing shortsea. This form of transport has proven to be less expensive and more environmentally friendly as opposed to traditional road freight. Companies choosing sea freight, show willingness to move towards becoming more environmentally friendly. Viasea’s schedules are very competitive compared to road freight and reduce number of trucks on the road.
